Teeth Grinding – Bruxism

Bruxism is the grinding of the teeth in sleep. It was always assumed that the bruxism was a result of stress in a stressful person. It is now recognized that bruxism may represent an attempt to maintain a problematic airway and the movement of the jaw in grinding is what we call a parafunctional movement intended to keep the airway open. There is a 70% correlation between bruxers and sleep apnea syndrome.
